July 30, 2018 Montgomery, Alabama: Earlier this year when the announcement was made that MONSTER Trucks were coming to Montgomery Motor Speedway a lot of folks didn’t know what to expect. Well Saturday night they didn’t have to wonder anymore.
The evening started with a VIP Meet and great with the drivers followed by a meet and great for the general Public. Smiles were a plenty as checkered flags, Shirts and toys were signed by the Monster Truck Drivers.
The destruction happened in the pit area and the track had a special feeling as the first 2 trucks lined up for a side by side race. TOXIC SHOCK and Scarlet Bandit hit the gas and then hit the cars. Scarlet Bandit moved to the finals and Toxic Shock headed to the consi. Next it was “Bad news travels FAST”and Bounty Hunter. Both hit the first stack of cars at the same time but it was Bounty Hunter crossing the finish line first Sending Bad News to a run-off with TOXIC SHOCK. Bad news won that race giving him the 3rd place finish.
Next up were the Drift cars … High horse power… tire burning… Sliding sideways down the front stretch of Montgomery Motor Speedway. Big thanks to Taylor Hull #82 for helping to organize this event.
Team Mates Scarlet Bandit and Bounty Hunter lined up for the Side by Side finals. Both trucks got big air with Bounty Hunter winning
.Kids Power Wheel races were next and a wide variety of Electric vehicles arrived on the scene. We may need a Tech crew next year.
MADD MAXX Cars hit the track with Late Model and Modified drivers Brandon Curren from Dora Alabama taking the win. Josh McElhone brought the #88 machine in second and Professional tire expert Bruce Watts rounded out the top 3
Monster trucks showed out next with the wheelie and Donut contest. Then it was on to the free style competition. Monster trucks were flying high as the hit the obstacles and tore up the infield …. In the end it was 3 time National Free style champion Jimmie Creten in Bounty Hunter winning the free style and overall for the Monster Truck Nationals.
Our Next event is the Saturday of Speed 250 featuring the “Show me the MONEY” Pro Late Models for 125 laps Blacksheep Woodlands Late Model Sportsman competing for 75 laps and street stocks for 50 laps. MMS Will hold an open practice Friday August 10th gates open at 5 practice from 6-9
Montgomery Motor speedways biggest event of the year will happen Sept 1-2 for the Alabama 200 “Hunt for the BEAR” All local divisions will race Saturday Sept.1st . Sunday will Feature the Modifieds of Mayhem Tour Battling for 75 laps $2k to win and the Show me the Money Pro Late Model in a 200 lap contest featuring “Controlled Pit Stops” and some of the BEST in Short track Racing …
