May 3, 2015 Montgomery, Al: This Saturday May9th Montgomery Motor Speedway celebrates Mother’s day by offering grandstand tickets to all moms for only $5.00. But the treat doesn’t end there. The Modified Minis will compete in twin 13 lap features and could prove to be the show of the night. With the points lead only separated by 1 point and a host of drivers heading to the historic oval to capture the first place trophies fans will be treated to some exciting Mini stock racing. #18 Chase Spradlin is planning to return after a big wreck in practice March 28th and will bring his “A” game for 2014 champion Joel Collier and 2nd place Chris Landers #9. Eddie Dodd # 81 has been working day and night to prepare his Ford Pinto for this event. Heath Williams # 82 has also been turning the wrenches on his Toyota looking for his first win of 2015. Lance Campbell had handling issues on his last visit to MMS but expect a better run from the “Wild Child” as his team prepares for the twin features. 3rd in 2015 points Rusty Alverson looks to put his machine at the front of the pack.

Interstate Batteries Late Model Sportsman will be in action for a 50 lap contest. The action was rough and tumble April 25th the last time these machines competed. The division is one of the hottest in the Alabama area as competitors have a very small rule book and the competition is fierce. Cars must weigh 3000 lbs, Any chassis, any V-8 Motor, Hoosier 8” 890 tires on a 4412- 500 carburetor makes this class very attractive to racers who may have older or out of date equipment and want the opportunity to use their cars and compete with some of the best drivers at Montgomery Motor Speedway. Joe Hudson #3 currently leads the 2015 points with 2014 Sunoco rookie of the year Jason Furrow #21 in second and #18 Brad Edwards in third. Look for some strong competition from #59 Shelby Reuse coming off a 3rd place finish April 25th , Larry Speakman who has struggled starting off 2015 but the seasoned driver knows what it takes to put the #91 in victory lane. Newcomer Travis Cleckler #5 from Clanton Alabama looks to improve his finishes in this 50 lap event as the class sees new competitors every time they race. Expect to see Wesley King #14 , Bo McCraney and a possible return of Bill Bethea III.
