The entire weekend was a huge success for Jasper, Alabama’s John Bolen and crew, topping the charts in both Saturday practice sessions and qualifying on the pole. Despite the invert placing him in seventh position, Bolen powered through and cruised to victory lane in the Disturbing the Peace 100 to cap off his perfect weekend at Montgomery Motor Speedway.
With the victory, Bolen has become the fourth winner in four races during the 2024 Show Me The Money Pro Late Model Series season to this point. He joins Casey Roderick, Stephen Nasse, and Jake Finch in that category of victors.
Jim Wall and Augie Grill battled for the lead during a sizable portion of the first half of the race, but John Bolen was slicing through the field in hot pursuit, eventually taking the lead around the halfway point and securely holding it.
The caution flag flew with nine laps to go for Hunter Johnson’s car stopping on track. At the time of the caution, Jake Finch had worked his way to second position and looked like he could potentially challenge Bolen for the race win and therefore go back-to-back.
However, the final restart played entirely in Bolen’s favor with him coming out on top. Finch would have to settle for second with Zack Dixon finishing in third. Clint King and Jim Wall rounded out the top five.
“We’ve been doing a lot of R&D with Fury Race Cars. We’ve been trying to make gains on it, and I felt when we unloaded this weekend that we had a good piece,” said Bolen. “It took us a long time for us to get our program at this level. You gotta keep pushing, but I do feel like it enables us to know we can compete even better.”
Jake Finch was the points leader heading into the weekend and will continue his momentum at the top of the Show Me The Money series standings after a second place finish with the Ronnie Sanders Racing crew.
“Just a good points night overall. Struggled with the handling, just wish we could’ve been a little bit better but it is what it is,” said Finch. “Any time I can get behind the wheel of the race car I learn something. Hopefully the extra seat time this year has made me better overall. We’re running good week in and week out in this car.”
