Rummel Exhibits Dominant Performance in Madd Maxx Enduro

Montgomery, Alabama September 3, 23023: Florida racer Kris Rummel put on a clinic to win the Madd Maxx Enduro at Montgomery Motor Speedway on Saturday, September 2nd.

In what was his first trip to Montgomery, Rummel would not only lap the entire field in the 30-minute Enduro race, but would also win the Sled Race earlier in the night.

“We’ve done Enduros down home at Citrus, Auburndale, and New Smyrna. This one was a little different being a road course. It was a different track and great facility,” Rummel told us after the race.

The Madd Maxx Enduro featured a field of 13 front-wheel-drive cars taking the track for a “roval” style road course race. With several chicanes and the infield pit roads being utilized for the course, the layout was truly a unique test for all of the drivers to navigate. The field included several racers who have raced in Enduro-style races in the past. While not being scored, even MMS Promoter Stan Narrison took the field for some laps!

This race was a battle of attrition from beginning to end, with several cars having to drop out of the race. When all was said and done after 30 minutes, Kris Rummel would complete 31 laps, lapping the entire field in the process. Dave Sherman would come up one spot short to finish 2nd, with Dalton Mason rounding out the podium in 3rd.

In addition to the Enduro, another race was held with these FWD machines. With only three cars entered, the Sled Race kicked off the FWD portion of the night’s festivities. This race featured cars with plates secured to the rear wheels, making the machines particularly hard to control. At the end of the Sled Race, it was Kris Rummel who found his way to victory lane.

In addition to the Enduro action, two local divisions, those being the Street Stocks and Late Model Sportsman classes, hit the track for their features.

The Street Stocks held their feature first, with 10 cars making up the field. Tre Huff would cross the finish line first after a last lap pass on Charlie Melvin. With Melvin crossing 2nd, Cody Weaver would be flagged 3rd.

Issues arose for several cars during the race. Will Smith would lose a tire, which would prematurely end his night. Charles Davis appeared to blow a tire, as he made hard contact with the outside wall early in the race. The Langham brothers, Jonathan and Maddox, both retired early after what appeared to be mechanical gremlins impacting their nights.

TECH ALERT: POST race inspection determined the 14x, 26, and 12 were in violation of Rear end rule Rule # 13.0

The Late Model Sportsmen held a 35-lapper following the Street Stock event. Jake Daniels would emerge victorious after taking the lead from Jason Furrow on a late-race restart. With Furrow falling back, that allowed Perry Patino to take home 2nd position, with Trey Grimes finishing 3rd.

The LRR sponsored machine of Wes Willis battled mechanical gremlins all day in his return to racing. After pulling the car in early on, Willis went back on track, only to encounter more issues. Willis decided to bring his machine in and call it a night, not wanting to tear up his equipment.
