A beautiful day and night for racing in the Great State of Alabama could not have been much better. Drivers from all across the Country came to the State Capital for the 59th running of the Alabama 200 to chase the famous BEAR trophy. As practices finished up and qualifying began, fans began flowing through the gates to get ready for 299 total laps between the “Show me the MONEY” Pro late models (200), Modifieds of MAYHEM Tour(59), and the Shelby Concrete Street Stocks(40).
Pre race ceremonies kicked off at 5:30pm with a packed out grandstands as Recording Artist Alyssa Ruffin performed the Star Spangled Banner and the Shelby Concrete Street Stocks fired the engines. A remembrance of Miss Lois Rewis took place at the start finish line as we remember longtime and devoted worker Miss Lois.
Veteran driver Dave Mader III #18 qualified on the pole but Promter Stan Narrison offered Mr Mader III$300 to drop to the rear to start the race. It would be Charles Davis #6 leading the field to green for 40 laps of Street Stock action at Montgomery Motor Speedway to kick off the 59th Annual Alabama 200. Charlie Melvin #26 after a good start on the outside of the front row jumped out to an early lead and paced the field of 14 drivers. Meanwhile, Dave Mader III #18 works his way up through the field and into the top 5. Charlie Melvin #26 continued to pace the field for the majority of the race before Charles Davis #6 found his way around the 26 and into the lead on lap 31. Jonathan Langham #51 came with him around Melvin #26. Charles Davis #6 would cross the start/finish line first and claim the Shelby Concrete Street Stocks BEAR trophy! Jonathan Langham #51 and Charlie Melvin #26 finished runner-up and 3rd. Dave Mader III #18 came from the back to the front to finish 4th while Cody Weaver #81 finished 5th. We want to thank Beck GM Services for the $200 bonus for second place and the Street Stock fans that contributed to the purse also.

Alabama 200 “Hunt for the BEAR”
The “Show me the MONEY” Pro Late Models strapped in for 200 laps as driver intros began followed by the command given by Miss Alabama 200 Kaylee Jordan. Carson Brown #25 would win the BAMA Budweiser Pole Award and drew a 1 so he would lead the field to green alongside 5-time Alabama 200 winner Augie Grill #43.
As Carson Brown #25 led the field to green a spin from his teammate Dawson Sutton #26 would end his night early after making contact with the inside wall on the restart. As the green flag flew once again it was “Mr. Montgomery” Augie Grill #43 pulling double duty on Alabama 200 weekend jumping out to an early lead from the outside. The Veteran would pace the field for the first 38 laps before surrendering the lead to young gun Gavin Graham #70. Graham would lead 20 laps before Carson Brown #25 found his way back into the lead with a very fast Rackley WAR car. Brown would go onto lead until a caution flag flew after a pile up in turn 3 ending Dylan Fetcho #89 night early. Christopher Tullis #12t and former Show me the MONEY series Champion would gain the lead as him and Brown would go back and forth over the next 60 laps in and out of cautions. A late race caution would then send both contenders of Christopher Tullis #12t and Carson Brown #25 to the rear. This would set up the race for a 5 lap shootout to decide the winner and it was Seth Christensen #35 in just his second ever late model start driving for Ricky Turner leading the field to green. Christensen gathered the lead and held off Veteran John Bolen #2 to win the 59th Annual Alabama 200 “Hunt for the BEAR”. John Bolen #2 finishes runner-up for the second time in 2 years and 5-time winner Augie Grill finishes 3rd. Dustin Smith #33 and Bryson Shaffer #12 round out the top-five.
