Must See Racing “Winged Sprints” Bring the SPEED!!!

October 12, 2021 Montgomery, Alabama : Montgomery Motor Speedway is known as one of the top tracks for fendered late models in the country. Open Wheels were featured This Weekend as the track played host to Michigan based “Must see racing” 410 Winged sprints. The event was a 2 day show with Features both nights for the Sprints , Blacksheep Woodlands Late Model Sportsman and the Shelby Concrete Street Stocks, Saturdays show also featured the Roadrunner Division.

Both nights of racing turned out to be very exciting. The Race program for the sprints consisted of Qualifying Heat races and a 30 lap feature

Qualifying saw Troy DeCaire #36 set fast time at 16.554. Joe Liguori #13 snapped of a lap of 17.007 and the #9s of Charlie Schultz rounded out the top 3 at 17.154

DeCaire rolled a 7 on the inversion and the evenings goals were set. At the drop of the green it was Nolan Allison in the #16 taking the lead. Caution flew on lap 4 as broken suspension sent the #2 of McQuillen to the pits ending his night early. On the restart Feeney 6k grabbed the lead but could only hold off #36 of Troy DeCaire for 2 laps. DeCaire took the lead and was setting a feverish pace when caution was displayed on lap 11 for the #16 Allison in turn 1. DeCaire would lead the rest of the laps with Schultz and Liguori giving chase.

When the fan favorite Shelby concrete Street Stocks roll out on the track it is always a show. Friday proved to be another jewel in the crown as 3 different leaders battled it out for 30 laps. To start the night it was the #19n of Hunter Evens setting quick time with a lap of 22.395 followed by Veteran Charles Davis #6 22.570. and Johnathon Langham #1 rounding out the top 3 22.631

At the drop of the green flag it was the #1 of Langham grabbing and holding the the lead till lap 10 when the #19 of Hunter Evens wrestled the point away and was rolling along for 8 laps with Charles Davis looking for his opportunity to pass. Lap 19 he got that opportunity and rolled to the checkers for the win.

Blacksheep woodlands Late Model Sportsman Rolled 11 cars for the feature and it was Hammer down from the start. Jake Daniels #17 pushed to the lead and looked sharp as he attacked the historic half Mile but it was Bill Bethea taking Control at lap 4 and never looked back as Current points leader Cody McCawley #62 brought home a second place finish … Betheas teammate Jason Furrow captured a podium finish.
