Hauling Asphalt Pro Trucks Night!

Montgomery Motor Speedway partnered with Five Flags Speedway again this weekend for a double header, this time with the Hauling Asphalt Pro Truck division. What a beautiful day and night for great racing here in Alabama!

Pro 4’s

The night got kicked off with Group Qualifying for the Pro 4 division, with everybody being fairly close together in lap times. Jeremy Davis #26 won the fast time and pole spot, but started in the rear after a full inversion. Rusty Alverson #7 in his return to Montgomery Motor Speedway claimed the second spot and started on the outside of the front row. Cliff Willcutt #21 qualified in the third position and started on the pole for the nights first feature.

As the Prayer, National Anthem, and Parade of Aid finished up, it was time for racing. Cliff Willcutt #21 led the field to the green flag as Rusty Alverson #7 gained the lead on the backstretch. Alverson led until the first caution on lap 5 as Jeremy Davis #26 seemed to be having issues with his car. Shortly after, it seems he had the issue worked out and we went back green. Jeremy Davis #26 fought back through the field, passing Rusty Alverson #7, but only regaining his lap back that he lost during his car issues. Rusty Alverson #7 was able to hold off the 21 of Cliff Willcutt and the 26 of Jeremy Davis to claim the victory in his first race back at Montgomery Motor Speedway this season.

Davis #6 rolled a 5, meaning the sixth place qualifier would lead the field to green. Charles Davis #6 would start on the outside of the third row, as Trey Grimes #51 would start to his inside, both looking to charge through the field and add to their trophy collection. Daniel Jacks #1 led the field to the green as the 30 lap Street Stock feature was underway. Mark Barnhill #3 dove to the inside of Daniel Jacks #1 on the backstretch, and gained the lead heading into turn 3. Hauling Asphalt Pro Trucks

Next up we had the featured double headers, the Pro Trucks! The Pro Trucks had a qualifying session, but only three drivers were able to get their trucks out to qualifying in time. Gavin Graham #38 won the pro trucks feature on Friday night at Five Flags Speedway with Curt Britt Motorsports. Gavin came into Montgomery Motor Speedway for the first time, bringing a 4 race winning streak with him. Gavin Graham #38 took the Bama Budweiser Pole Award in the qualifying session, with a 21.225 fast time. Logan Boyett #9 qualified second, coming in at 21.788, followed by Darryl Rudd #56 at 21.964.

The three drivers that qualified did a field inversion, putting Darryl Rudd #56 on the pole position. After driver intros, Rudd #56 was found to be leaking fuel, and gave up the pole position. This moved Gavin Graham #38, and fresh off his Five Flags speedway win, on the pole position. Graham #38 jumped out to a quick lead but Logan Boyett #9 was right there with him, following his every move, all the way around the track. Gavin Graham #38 continued his dominance of late, leading all 30 laps, holding off a hard charging Logan Boyett #9, who was right there with him throughout the race. Darryl Rudd #56 rounded out the top 3. Landon DeVaughn #18 finished fourth in his pro trucks debut, holding off Howard Langham #1, who rounded out the top five. The pro trucks will be back for a 40-lap feature on July 31st! We look forward to welcoming more pro truck drivers for that race. Contact us if you would like more information about it!
