May 13, 2020, Montgomery, Alabama: As the COVID-19 Virus holds racetracks hostage across Alabama and the country the picture and situation changes daily. After the announcements last week by Alabama Governor Kaye Ivey we believed as she stated that there would be further direction given to the businesses classified as Entertainment venues. The guidelines released  today were for businesses that were allowed to open Monday 5/11/20 and No Change to the Order that keep Racetracks closed. We have presented (From a united front of tracks, Montgomery Motor Speedway, Sayre Speedway, Jasper Speedway, Talladega Short track , Mobile international Speedway, South Alabama Speedway, East Alabama Speedway) Known as the “The Alabama Short track Racing Coalition, some guidelines that are industry specific for a return to short track oval racing in Alabama. We feel that our open air facilities lend themselves to a safe environment and the physical layout makes social distancing possible.

We ask that you contact your senators and house representative to professionally voice your opinion and to let these politicians know of the economic impact short track racing has on this state.

With that being said Race events for this weekend have been cancelled or postponed. As always please check with your local track concerning their future plans and availability of testing.

Mark your calendar for the first week of June as MMS and 5 Flags Speedway team up for a Pro Late model Double Header. Friday June 5th 5 Flags in Pensacola will kick it off with a 100 lap event followed by Saturday June 6th at Montgomery Motor Speedway will host the MIDSUMMER Classic 100
