Sprints 1

April 16, 2019, Montgomery, Al 36108: “Pure speed and horsepower” is the most common statement made about winged sprint cars. The fastest lap at Montgomery Motor Speedway was set in 2016 by Bobby Santos April 3…. 15.038 (122.038 mph). Feathers were ruffled in the Roadrunner division as some competitors used more bumper than common sense. As usual this division puts on some of the best racing at MMS. Eugene Bell #33 took the point at the drop of the green flag. Good battles were happening all over the track. Caution flew on lap 6 involving the #12 of Wilson and #26 of Jason Singletary. Charles Ellis #28 took the lead on lap 8 and had his sights on a win at Montgomery Motor Speedway. The #12 of Josh Wilson moved to the top of the leader board on lap 11 and held it till lap 18 when contact between the #12 of Wilson and the #28 of Ellis on the front stretch brought out the yellow and relinquished both to the rear of the field. On the restart the #33 of Eugene Bell and the #3 of Jason Kendrick battled for the lead but it was #3 Kendrick in victory Lane.

The “King of the WING” Sprints were the next icing on the cake as the methanol monsters warmed their tires and heated the oil in their high horsepower beasts. Earlier in the day during practice the #01 car piloted by Shane Morgan took a very hard hit when a suspension failure sent his machine into the #1 turn wall.
