We took a few minutes to catch up with the 2018 Champion Jeff Dawkins. #2

MMS: Congratulation on your 2018 Blacksheep Woodlands Late Model Sportsman Championship.
Dawkins: Thanks I Love Racing at Montgomery Motor Speedway
MMS: How Long have you raced.
Dawkins: I Started racing when I was 22 … so 31 years…. I’ve raced Bob Harmans Enduro races they started128 cars and I finished 10th at Birmingham Fairgrounds. I’ve raced Pure Stocks, Nascar All -Pro, Hooters Pro Cup and Late Models at Montgomery Motor Speedway. Through my career I even had a chance to drive for Alan Caton. My Last Championship was in the Miller Genuine draft car 25 years ago at Montgomery.
MMS: You were Semi retired in racing. What brought you back ?
Dawkins: My Friend Don Wilson contacted me about a Legends race that the track was putting on. Once I set back in a racecar I knew I had to race again.
MMS: What was your Favorite car?
Dawkins: I would say it would be this years car. Jody Peirce was instrumental in getting the car to turn in the corner. Really everyone that comes to the track has been a big part of this Championship..
MMS: Favorite Monster Energy Cup Driver of all time and present:
Dawkins: My All-Time Favorite would be Dale Earnhart Sr.Just thought he was a racers racer. I Don’t Really have a present driver that I follow.
MMS: Do you have a Short track Hero?
Dawkins: That would be Gary Ballough
MMS: What are your Off-Season Racing plans?
Dawkins: We are planning a cruise to Costa Rica and just relaxing in the off season.
MMS: What is your favorite Movie?
Dawkins: Has to be “Taken” with Liam Neeson
MMS: What type of Music do you listen to?
Dawkins: Country/Western …..I really like Garth Brooks.
MMS: Tell me something most people don’t know about you?
Dawkins: I had a job for a short time as a Grave Digger (Not the Monster Truck) and I had a subscription to Bon Appetit magazine.and taught myself to cook the good stuff. (Guess we will stop by his hauler for lunch on race day)
