Fan Appreciation = Great Racing
July 17, 2018 Montgomery, Alabama: For the lucky fans in attendance this past Saturday night, They were treated to some exciting racing and some great prizes. T-shirts, Toys for the kids, Aw Shucks, Country BBQ and Front Porch Grill gift Certificates and a flat screen TV.
The real treat was some awesome racing on the historic ½ mile track. Budweiser qualifying kicked off the night with Charles Davis #6 laying down a fast lap for the Street Stock at 22.992. Late Model Sportsman qualifying had Dave “Darth” Mader besting the field at 21.104. Bill Bethea III was second at 21.129 and Roger Reuse rounded out the top 3 at 21.288. Modified Minis saw the “Bug” Dustin Knowles motor around the track at 23.425.
Coca Cola Street Stocks were the first feature and it was packed with excitement as Joe Bethea Jr. #33 had a strong run, although pressure was felt from the #38 of Hutchinson and #6 of Charles Davis. Davis grabbed the lead lap 13 on a restart only to have Bethea take it back on lap 16. With Mechanical problems striking both the current pointe leader Trey Grimes #51 and Bubba Hutchinson #38 the points battle has a completely different complexion heading to this Saturday. J.C.Cleckler #5 had another strong run as he found himself with a podium finish and sitting second in points.

The Bike races rolled off next and fun was had by all.
Blacksheep Woodlands Late Model Sportsman hit the track for the 50 lap event. Young gun Aiden Eldridge #8x led the field to green. Roger Reuse #88 kept the young driver in his sites and soon had the top spot. Working his way to the front Dave Mader III #18 seemed on a mission as he picked his way to the front grabbing the spot on lap 19. Current points leader Jeff Dawkins #2 made a couple of runs at Mader but could not make the pass.

The Modified Mini Division has always put on a good show and Saturday night was no exception. Dustin Knowles #64 in the world famous racing BUG set fast time in qualifying and set his orange and black machine as the car to beat. Knowles looked strong but working his way to the front Josh McElhone was looking sporty in his #21 car on it’s first visit to Montgomery Motor Speedway. Late in the feature the handling went away from the #64 Knowles and the #21 of Josh Mac wrestled the top spot away on lap 28 and drove to the checkers on lap 30.Modified Minis Results (Unofficial)
