April 13th Atlanta Georgia: The racing world lost one of it’s own as Len Simpson passed away unexpectantly last night in Flowery Branch, Georgia. Len was an official at Lanier National Speedway and Gresham Motorsports park (Formally Peachstate and Jeffco speedway) Many racers will remember him as the first face that they would see as they pulled into victory Lane. He along with his twin Brother Glen were the driving force behind the racing program at Lanier.
Len Horace Simpson, age 59 of Flowery Branch, passed away Tuesday, April 12, 2016 at his residence following a sudden illness.
Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, April 15, 2016 at 3:30pm in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home with Rev. Phil Martin officiating. The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 14, 2016 from 3:00-5:00pm and 7:00-9:00pm at the funeral home.
Mr. Simpson was born January 1, 1957 in Demorest, Georgia to Glen Simpson and Betty Poole Simpson. He was employed with Peerless Winsmith and was a member of Level Grove Baptist Church. Mr. Simpson was preceded in death by his mother and his sister, Sheila Webb.
Mr. Simpson is survived by his wife, Connie Young Simpson of Flowery Branch; son and daughter-in-law, Zack and Kimberly Simpson of Gainesville; son and daughter-in-law, Chris and Christina Henson of Flowery Branch; granddaughter, Rylee Simpson; grandson, Caleb Calvo; father, Glen Simpson and Hazel Caldwell of Mableton; brother and sister-in-law, Glen and Kathy Simpson of Gainesville; sister and brother-in-law, Debra and Bill Johnson of Gainesville; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Gary and Robin Young of Gainesville and a number of nieces and nephews.
