Capital City 140 is set featuring Open Sportsman 75 Lap feature 7-26-14

The competition has been hot this year in the Open Sportsman division and this weekend the bar will be raised as the division competes in a 75 lap contest. A regular staple on Saturday nights at Montgomery Motor Speedway the class usually runs 35 laps. This weekend the laps are big and the payoff is big. Fans will be treated to a 75 lap contest with $1000 going to the winner of this race. Auto Performance Engines doing business in Montgomery for over 35 years and building some of the finest Circle Track, Drag and Custom Rod Motors in the southeast has posted up an extra $100 dollars to sweeten the pot to $1100 to win.

The race night will start off with Budweiser fast time pole award qualifying. Each racer will be given 2 laps to post the best time. Pole Qualifying will pay $200 … $100 From Bama Budweiser and $100 from Lillas Landscaping in Helena, Alabama. Lillas Landscaping is a year round Lawn care, landscaping and handy man company specializing in residential and commercial properties. The Open sportsman division is still in its infancy and is very unique for its small rule book. Cars must weigh 3000 pounds, any V-8 motor any chassis, 4412-500 carburetor, 8 inch wheels, Hoosier 890 tires and must have a stock appearing body.

Current points leader Justin Caton #7 JC7oswin7-12-14 will look to defend his position after a first place finish in his last outing, Justin South #22justinsouthoswin5-10-14 is expecting to return and see if he can continue his winning ways after chalking up 3 in a row but missing the last Open Sportsman race. Jason Furrow #21 has been knocking on the door and hopes to see victory lane this time out. Larry Speakman #91 has had some issues with his car this season but seems to be getting faster each week as he turns the wrenches and puts his racing knowledge to this new division. The #59 of Shelby Reuse will return with the AIR Sponsored car and looks for a great finish in the longer race. Racers from all over the Alabama ,Florida and Mississippi will bring their best for this big event.

The Capital City 140 will also feature the Uncle Bob’s Self Storage Street Stocks and the Modified Minis. Tickets are only $10 for adults $8 seniors and Military $5 for children 6-12 Kids 5 and under are always free.
